Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Aviation/aerospace manufacturing. General manufacturing. Mining Industry. Oil and gas industry. Manufacture. Tasks: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations. Clean and maintain work space. Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools. Program CNC machine tools. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Equipment and machinery experience: Automatic lathes. Engine lathes. Milling machines. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Robotic equipment and systems. Computer-aided design (CAD). Multi-functional process control machinery. Repetitive machining operation experience: Turning. Milling. Boring. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
