An employee of this class ensures that on-duty aquatic staff are working effectively, the program is operating safely and the facility is properly prepared for the enjoyment and safety of all patrons. The position supervises the delivery of aquatic programs, monitors and ensures the safety of the pool deck and change rooms, provides shift supervision of staff and ensures proper rotation of lifeguards. The incumbent exercises independence of judgement and action in routine daily activities, referring unusual and difficult matters to a supervisor. Work performance is evaluated on the quality of service provided and in terms of conformance with established practices and procedures.Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Performs all the duties of an Aquatic Leader. Provides direction, support, feedback and assistance to aquatic leaders and aquatic attendants, instructions staff and contractors as required. Maintains effective working relationships with Internal and external contacts; provides assistance to patrons of the facility as required; and refers unresolved issues to a supervisor. Provides leadership In the event of an emergency. Supervises the delivery of aquatic programs that occur during the assigned shifts including lesson supervision, Public Swim supervision, and Leadership for Special Events. Monitors the completion of general maintenance tasks to ensure staff complete designated tasks and that all records are documented In appropriate log books. Monitors and ensures the safety of the pool deck and change rooms; provides feedback and follow up as required; and reports problems to a supervisor. Provides shift supervision of staff and ensures proper rotation of lifeguards. Organize, provide and supervise appropriate activities, games and events of interest to the users. Completes required reports, documentation, statistics, records and Incident investigations; enters program data; and recommends Improvements ff applicable. Assists with lifeguard or Instructor In-service and training as required Performs related work as required.The successful candidate for this position will have: Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifeguarding and aquatic instruction, plus 3 months or more related supervisory experience; or a combination of training and experience National Lifeguard Award - Pool Option Standard First Aid with CPR ?C? & AED Swim for Life Instructor (SI) Why should you consider working for us?
