We envision a bright future in Coquitlam that we hope includes you!About You / What We Are Looking For Coquitlam is at an exciting time in its transportation development, with rapid residential, commercial, and infrastructure growth creating dynamic opportunities and challenges. We are seeking two Traffic Technologists to join our Traffic & Street Use Management Section within the Transportation Division of the Engineering & Public Works Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is looking to build practical experience in municipal traffic engineering while working alongside experienced engineers and technologists. As one of our Traffic Technologists, you will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the City's transportation network through a diverse range of technical, field and office-based assignments. In this busy and fast-paced role, no two days are the same. Using strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will investigate traffic concerns raised by residents, collect and analyze traffic data, review development applications and consultant submissions, assist with the design and operation of traffic signals and street lighting, and support the delivery of transportation and capital improvement projects. The role provides excellent exposure to many aspects of municipal traffic engineering and offers continual opportunities to learn and develop professionally. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working in a collaborative environment, and is looking for a varied role where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn.Minimum Qualifications Diploma in Civil, Transportation, Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institute or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) from a recognized university. Related work experience with an emphasis in the traffic or Transportation engineering. Certification, or eligibility for certification, as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC or eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), as applicable. Valid class 5 BC Driver?s licence or an equivalent and a clean driver?s abstractPreferred Qualifications Knowledge of traffic signal operations and principles. Familiarity with Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS would be considered an asset. Knowledge of municipal traffic engineering and transportation operations would be an asset. What We Offer: This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $45.75 - $54.03. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
