Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods. Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Inspect kitchens and food service areas. Clean kitchen and work areas. Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit. Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs. Stock refrigerators and salad bars. Sharpen kitchen knives. Serve customers at counters or buffet tables. Scour pots and pans. Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand. Remove kitchen garbage and trash. Portion and wrap foods. Package take-out food. Load buspans and trays. Keep records of the quantities of food used. Handle and store cleaning products. Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units. Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment. Prepare, heat and finish simple food items. Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware. Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas. Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables.
