The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance. This role requires a keen attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesExecute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting and other electrical systemsInstall electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systemsInstall safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of componentsPrepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through themPrevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged unitsPerform other duties as required.Requirements1-2 years of experience as Industrial Electrician. Experience in a large-scale meat or food manufacturing/processing environment considered an asset.Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is required.Must possess Journeyman Electrician Certification that is valid in Prince Edward Island.Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems.Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints.Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.Very good communication skills and good problem-solving skills.Very good physical strength and stamina, able to lift, pull, push, and handle up to 80 lbs. This role requires constant walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods.Able to work in cold, hot, and wet environmentsAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks.Willingness to rotational shift work, work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed. Should be available for on-call during emergencies.Our workplace is a meat processing facility that is an environment of multi-temperatures and varying levels of humidity. We convert live cattle into Federally Inspected beef products.
