The Registered Midwife provides comprehensive care during pregnancy, conducts births in the hospital and community setting, and continues with postpartum care to individuals and their newborns for at least six weeks after birth.The Registered Midwife has the ability to admit and discharge in hospital and works collaboratively with obstetricians, nurses, family physicians, pediatricians, anesthetists, lactation consultants and other members of the healthcare team. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person- and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety, and partner with all team members to improve staff and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements. The Registered Midwife contributes to NLHS policies and educational sessions. The Registered Midwife works as part of a small team sharing clients and on-call coverage.Job Qualifications:Successful completion of a recognized midwifery education program in accordance with the requirements of the College of Midwives of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMNL) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) is required.A minimum of two (2) years experience working as a Midwife is an asset.Midwifery experience in Canada is an asset.A Master's degree is an asset.Current and continuing registration with NLCHP and CMNL are required.Consistent demonstration of NL Health Services corporate values: Innovation Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (I CARE).Knowledge of issues related to maternal and child health.Demonstrated strong decision making, interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interprofessional environment and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.A valid Newfou- Location Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
