*Summary of Position:* The SolidWorks Designer requires sound comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, and reading of drawings. They are responsible for developing concepts, completing designs, structures and plant arrangements while working both independently and as part of a team. Strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and codes is preferred. Additionally, they will play an integral role in supporting key phases of a design project?s lifecycle in collaboration and partnership with technical team. This SolidWorks Designer will be detailed-oriented, who will thrive in an environment of innovation that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. The focus of this position is mechanical design of steel components to be used in an industrial facility. *Primary Responsibilities:* * Using specialized software, create models and drawings of Equipment and Machinery (SolidWorks 3-D). * MUST be able to design 3D models in SolidWorks. * Collect, read, interpret, and use related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources. * Review and check calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion. * Reverse engineering from supplied prints as well as physical components. * Participate in design coordination meetings and address critical issues. * Preparation of BOM?s for material requisitioning and direct communication with vendors. * Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications and guidelines for production and installation. * Offer creative and technical recommendations on project work when required. * Produce assembly and production documentation for our team in-house. * To use a wide set of visualization techniques and methods (digital and physical) for effective and compelling communication. * To adapt to and support dynamically changing team goals and priorities. * To provide support and bridge across a wide array of cross-departmental needs. * To reliably and to responsibly manage, organize, and prioritize parallel objectives. * To contribute to the ongoing development of suitable processes and tools that improve the quality and efficiency of our design work. * To have open and continual dialog with the Design Director (or designate) of significant project challenges, changes, and progress. *Qualifications* * Bachelor?s degree in industrial design, product design, or equivalent. * Mechanical engineering or technologist background an asset * _*7- 10 years of metal fabrication background/experience is a MUST.*_ * A minimum of 2+ years of 3D modeling design experience in manufacturing environments. * Knowledge and experience with metal manufacturing process (Bending, cutting, forming, welding, machining) * Expertise in industrial measurement (IE taking measurements in the field and designing to suit) * Expertise with 3D software SolidWorks. * Expertise with functional design transitioning to production design (IE specification of required manufacturing process to produce the required design). * Ability to communicate professionally within a business context, in addition to having a strong aptitude for articulating design ideas and grasping project requirements. * Experience with rapid prototyping and other mechanical tasks. * Understanding of electrical components and technology. * Ability to adjust to changing project requirements in a fast-paced work environment. * strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to present design ideas. * A portfolio of design work in SolidWorks is an asset. _*Qualified candidates, please send your resume and covering letter to: Luciano Corbo ?
