The Information Technology Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Specialist to design, develop, and maintain complex GIS solutions that support the City?s operational and strategic objectives. Reporting to the Manager of Data Services, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining web-based GIS solutions, creating scripts to automate workflows, and extending GIS functionality as needed. You will provide mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization services to departments, and collaborate with IT teams and business units to integrate GIS data and services with other systems. Additional responsibilities include creating metadata, supporting data governance, and preparing technical documentation; offering technical support and training for GIS users; and developing and maintaining system administration procedures to ensure data quality and compliance with organizational standards. In this role, you will contribute to the team?s service delivery standards and may participate in routine requests, including cartographic products and data entry. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will enable you to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines effectively. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external contacts and may serve as the project lead for GIS initiatives. The ideal candidate will have completed a post-graduate diploma in GIS, plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Familiarity with municipal government GIS workflows, regulatory requirements would be considered strong assets. A solid knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, Esri?s ArcGIS suite of products is essential, along with a proven portfolio of web-based GIS solutions that leverage JavaScript, Python, SQL, HTML, CSS, and web services. Technical expertise with REST APIs, SQL Server relational databases, ArcSDE Geodatabases, MongoDB, FME Form, and FME Flow is also required. Experience with ArcGIS API for Python and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript would be an asset. Salary:$46.07 to $54.44 per hour(Pay Grade 26 - January 2024 rates) Hours of Work:The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
