HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) mechanic

Job details
Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Install refrigeration systems. Install ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. Interpret blueprints or other instructions to plan methods or sequences of operation. Maintain and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks. Troubleshoot heating systems. Troubleshoot ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment. Provide customer service. Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices. Perform maintenance such as, recharging system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators or calibrating system. Interpret gas codes. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification. Working at heights training. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate. Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained). Heat pump. Humidification and de-humidification system. Ventilation. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail.
