*Job Summary *
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This position involves hands-on electrical and mechanical work, including reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. The role also includes ensuring all tasks are completed safely and efficiently, supporting operational uptime, and complying with company procedures and applicable electrical codes.
*Overall Functions & Responsibilities: *
* Assemble and wire electrical components, including terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, sensors, and motor control panels.
* Wire AC/DC circuits and electrical panels.
* Troubleshoot electrical issues such as charging system faults, sensor errors, wiring and connection problems, fuse and relay failures, communication faults, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and engine starting issues.
* Perform wiring and terminations for engines, alternators, and associated machinery components.
* Couple generators to engines.
* Read and interpret wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and general arrangement drawings.
* Conduct load testing and inspect installations to verify proper functionality.
* Perform site and equipment inspections, and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to management.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and shop.
* Use hand tools, handheld power tools, and some stationary tools such as drill press.
* Mentor and support lower-level apprentices' growth and development by providing constructive feedback, fostering skill improvement, and enhancing performance.
* Comply with all industry standards, as well as company safety procedures and policies, to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
*Education & Qualifications: *
* Hold a Journeyman Electrician Red Seal Certificate.
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as an electrical technician or in a related field.
* Experienced in the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of control panels and circuits.
* Knowledge of PLC systems and automation control systems.
* Proficient in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical drawings, and bills of materials.
* Committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism, and work ethic.
* Possess or willing to acquire a basic set of mechanical and electrical hand tools (e.g., drills, impact drivers).
* At least 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
* Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and email communication.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Previous experience with generator sets from John Deere, Kubota, Kohler, Blue Star, or similar competitors preferred.
