Job Summary & Responsibilities <p>The School Psychologist position includes opportunities to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment in the context of the Learning Support Services Department and with school personnel. The successful candidate will also: Provide ongoing collaborative consultation and planning for students and classrooms through school-based team meetings and care team meetings<p> Provide individualized psychoeducational assessments (based on student need) for students referred through the school-based team.<p> Provide professional learning opportunities for educators and support staff<p> Assist with the Ministry of Education processes for designation and adjudicationNote: Should no qualified candidates be available, the District will review applications for paid, supervised internships that would meet the 1,800-hour internship requirement. Education & Experience Masters Degree in School Psychology, Educational Psychology or equivalent<p> Possess or eligible for membership in the BC Association of School Psychologists and/or the College of Psychologists BC<p> Training and supervision in the assessment of Learning Disabilities<p> Teaching certification with B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch is considered an assetKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated understanding of B.C. Ministry of Education designation categories and guidelines<p> Demonstrated knowledge of elementary, middle, and secondary context preferred<p> Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to complete multiple assessment reports by pre-determined deadlines<p> Demonstrated ability to work with school-based and integrated teams in a consulting role<p> Skilled in written and oral interpersonal communications<p> Knowledge of Competency Based IEPs is an assetThe starting annual salary for this full-time Associated Professional position ranges from $70,214 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. School Psychologists receive a monthly allowance of $433.83. Teaching Competencies<p>All teachers are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others in a tactful, compassionate and respectful manner. <p> Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment <p> Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics. <p> Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning <p> Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies. <p> Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives <p> Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students <p> Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances View Teaching Competencies Detail
