Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Urban area. Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Tasks: Book appointments. Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Shampoo customers' hair. Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages. Supervise apprentices/students in training. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Apply hair extensions. Clean and style wigs and hair pieces. Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features and preferences. Maintain and order supplies. Hair styling techniques: Blow drying. Hair braiding. Iron waving/curling. Permanents. Locking. Relaxing. Pin curls. Roller setting. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Reliability. Team player. Screening questions: Are you available for the advertised start date?.
