Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. Tasks: Clean teeth. Diagnose dental diseases . Examine patients' teeth, gums and surrounding tissue. Hire and train staff. Instruct patients on oral hygiene . Plan dental health treatment. Administer budget. Restore, extract and replace diseased and decayed teeth. Perform oral surgery, periodontal surgery and other treatments. Design bridgework, fit dentures and provide appliances. Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for use by denturists and dental technicians. Act as consultants to other dentists. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities. Medical specialization: Dentistry. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Work under pressure. Physically demanding.
