This position reports to the Director of Inclusive Learning Services. Position Summary The Social Emotional Coach (SEC) program provides short-term skill and strategy development to enhance student well-being. Social Emotional coaches help to grow students, families, and teachers capacity in social-emotional skills. <p>Social Emotional Coaches provide comprehensive support for students, families, and school staff, addressing diverse social, emotional, and behavioral needs. We prioritize safety and effective assistance using research-based, individual-centered, inclusive, and trauma-informed methods. Referrals usually come from school staff or parents. Students can request one meeting with their Social Emotional Coach independently, with additional visits requiring parental consent. Common reasons for referrals encompass emotional, social, familial, and academic concerns.<p>Additionally, Social Emotional Coaches offer a range of services, including consulting with multidisciplinary teams, facilitating sessions for students, families, staff, or small groups, and providing professional development for school staff upon request.<p>Salary will be commensurate with the successful applicants education, training, and experience.<p> The successful candidate must: <p> Hold a bachelors degree in a Human Services field or related program or be currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program<p> Maintain an active membership with a professional association<p> Demonstrate effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration skills with students, adults, and various contexts<p> Lead initiatives promoting social and emotional wellness at school sites and system levels<p> Apply research-based training in counseling theory, conflict resolution, and related areas when assisting students and families<p> Utilize expertise in Violence-Threat Risk Assessment, Crisis Response, Trauma Informed Practice, Restorative Practice, and SuicideIntervention to support students, families, and staff<p> Consult and collaborate with school administration during crisis situations and serve on the School Jurisdiction Crisis Response Team<p> Participate in Violence-Threat Risk Assessment Team tasks and responsibilities<p> Demonstrate understanding and application of Mental Health Literacy, including Go-to-Educator Core information<p> Provide direct short-term intervention services to students and families, including screening, assessment, problem-solving discussions, and service plans<p> Actively contribute to wrap-around support teams and multidisciplinary case conferences<p> Support education staff in implementing social-emotional intervention plans and initiatives, and assist in integrating social-emotional wellness into student learning<p> Collaborate independently and with the BTPS Department of Inclusive Learning team<p> Analyze school-level student performance data to inform decisions and identify service trends and gaps<p> Provide consultation and training on social-emotional wellness to students, parents, staff, and community partners<p> Represent BTPS on community coalitions, committees, and initiatives as required<p> Serve as an advocate and liaison between school, home, and community to address social emotional health needs<p> Facilitate referrals to appropriate service providers outside of SEC services<p> Offer relevant resources and materials to students, families, teachers, principals, and partnership professionals<p> Practice self-awareness and engage
