*Position Description*
Serves as the primary on-site authority providing overall management, direction, planning and operation of Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum and Crematorium (The Cemetery).
Responsible for executing the strategic goals of The Cemetery including sales, services, operations, grounds, and administration. The General Manager will execute a strategic plan that drives growth, equips the team, builds partnerships, engages the market, and serves families through Cemetery Programs.
Responsible for the strategic planning, operational management, and financial performance of The Cemetery. Provides leadership to the staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and participates in community relations efforts. The General Manager is also responsible for fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for grieving families.
*Responsibilities*
* Develop strategic plans and goals for The Cemetery in alignment with the organization?s mission and objectives.
* Ensure regulatory compliance by staying updated on local, provincial, and federal cemetery laws and regulations, and implementing necessary measures.
* Monitor and analyze The Cemetery performance, including financial indicators, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency, and take necessary steps to ensure continuous improvement.
* Oversee the maintenance and beautification of The Cemetery grounds, ensuring they remain visually appealing and well-maintained.
* Lead and motivate the staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of professionalism and customer service.
* Develop and manage the organization?s budget, overseeing expenditures and revenue streams, and making recommendations for financial improvements.
* Establish strong relationships with local funeral homes, hospices, and other relevant organizations to generate business and increase The Cemetery?s reputation in the community.
* Ensure the accurate and efficient recording of all burial records, including managing the maintenance of electronic databases and physical records.
* Implement marketing and public relations strategies to promote The Cemetery?s offerings and attract customers.

* Ability to protect confidential information and material.
* Experienced in financial planning and understanding key financial reporting metrics.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
* Possess the ability to coach and motivate others to achieve greater results.
* Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements for cemeteries and crematoriums in Ontario.
* Understanding of Human Resources Law, requirements of the OHSA, and the AODA.
*Position Requirements*
* Minimum 10 years experience in a senior leadership position of a progressive company
* A degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, or a combination of equivalent education together with professional experience.
*Considered an Asset*
* Experience in the bereavement industry.
* Understanding of cemetery laws and regulations.
* Experience working with specialized cemetery software.
* Working with appointed Board of Directors/Trustees.
* Previous customer service experience.

Woodland Cemetery, Mausoleum and Crematorium is a non-profit organization owned and operated by St. Paul?s Cathedral Anglican Church of Canada, Diocese of Huron, established in 1879 to replace St. Paul?s Grove Cemetery. Originally a 56- acre property, Woodland had grown to 72 acres of beautiful and tranquil landscape, which currently accommodates over 50,000 burials.
