The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization (NBEMO) is responsible to promote the development of emergency programs at all levels of government encompassing prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. NBEMO leads the coordination of provincial emergency operations, assists communities, municipalities, and regional service commissions with resources, and encourages a cooperative and harmonized approach to operations to facilitate resource and information sharing.Recovery Services is a unit in the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization and is responsible for the recovery operations components of an emergency event including ensuring evacuees can return to their homes safely, managing Health and Safety Inspections, damage assessments, making recommendation to Government on whether to create a Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program in response to the event, and administering DFA programs once approved. A DFA program is a multi-million dollar joint Federal / Provincial cost-sharing program which utilizes both Federal and Provincial guidelines. What you will do As a member of the Recovery Services team, you will provide inspection services to Recovery Services, help administer Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) programs, and support Recovery operations. Reporting to the Manager of Mitigation and Public Sector Claims, the successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program and applying it to project site visits for Public (Provincial) claims. The incumbent will be responsible for inspecting repaired infrastructure for a specific DFA event, documenting your findings, and reporting back to the assigned claim Engineer. A detailed outline capturing the information collected includes pre-disaster conditions, damage to infrastructure, photos, cause of damages, emergency response, actual costs incurred, and audit verification information. Work environmentOffice location: 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton Office layout: offices Team: 13 team members Standard hours of work: Monday ? Friday, 8:15-4:30.
