Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Asset languages: Hindi. Urdu. Panjabi; Punjabi. Work site environment: Outdoors. Wet/damp. Noisy. Dusty. Hot. Work setting: On-site customer service. Commercial. Residential. Sidewalks and curbs. Urban area. Various locations. Tasks: Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units. Estimate materials, tools and equipment required for projects . Construct and install prefabricated masonry units. Prepare tenders and quotations. Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations. Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools. Instruct apprentices. Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces. Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks. Line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks, refractory concretes, plastic refractories and other materials. Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures. Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces. Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Operate power vibrators to compact concrete. Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification. Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures. Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement. Estimate costs and materials. Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces. Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools. Type of materials: Reinforcing membrane and protective covering.
