POSITION VACANCYPOSITION: Food Service SupervisorTYPE: Permanent Part-time (70%) 5 days a weekLOCATION: Yarmouth, NS Position Scope:The Meadows is a Long-term Care facility (105 beds) that promotes a Resident-Centered Care Philosophy.This newly established role will work under the direction and leadership of the Administrative Dietitian.The Food Service Supervisor will coach, supervise, direct and co-ordinate the activities of workers who prepare food in our central kitchen. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dietary Department, coordinating high quality and fiscally responsible meal service for our Residents. They will do so while maintaining a positive work environment, that promotes teamwork, professionalism, resident centered service, and safety.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Supervise the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals and snacks for our ResidentsEnsure that culinary experience (food & service) meets quality control standards and is in compliance with provincial health & safety regulationsCoordinate menu development, special menus, catering events and holiday menusOversee/maintain standardized recipes & production sheets, with assistance from Cooks/Cook AssistantsCreation and revision of standard operating procedures & policies for the Dietary DepartmentEstimate and order ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation, in collaboration with teamGather feedback through resident and family council meetings, conduct food satisfaction surveys/quality audits & incorporate resolutions to ensure a positive mealtime experience for ResidentsMonitor/manage employee performance, with the assistance from the Admin. Dietitian, as requiredProvide education/training & guidance to Dietary staff, and assist with orientation of new Dietary team membersOther related duties and administrative functions as neededWHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:Demonstrated sincere willingness and passion to engage/participate with those who live in our home and lead others to enhance resident's social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needsRelate well to those who live and work in our home, with a compassionate, caring & respectful attitudeHave a passion for food dining experience & possess a strong customer service mindset, with the ability to obtain & respond to stakeholder needsCompletion of WHMIS, Food Handlers & Advanced Food Safety Certification/HACCP Training2 years recent Leadership/Supervisor experience in a food service environment, with demonstrated ability to provide performance management/coaching strategiesFamiliarity with food production & menu development, ensuring the nutritional requirements, seasonal variations, and cultural food preferences of ResidentsProficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, internet, email, foodservice ordering processes and software applicationsDemonstrated judgement, problem solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated accountability (fiscal, quality improvement, food safety, effective use of food resources, policy implementation/creation of supportive environments for dining)People focused; team building skills and demonstrated ability to build internal and external collaborative relationshipsResilient to change with a commitment to continuous quality improvement and innovationAbility to maintain confidentiality, with a high level of integrity and respect for othersAbility to prioritize, organize and manage time in a fast-paced environment & possess a high degree of self-direction & motivationAbility to work outside a set schedule/beyond normal working hours, as neededFlexibility in having your role, duties and work hours restructured, if required.WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO HAVE:Completion of a recognized course in Food and Nutrition ManagementExperience working in a health care se
