Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, in this exempt position you will be responsible for organizing and implementing technology, services and data management practices that apply to geographic information systems (GIS). This position oversees a team of employees and ensures that all geomatic related services are coordinated and corporate goals and objectives are met accordingly.ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will manage the Geomatics Services team with responsibility for the architecture, standardization, quality assurance, quality control, design, development, operation, and support of geomatic systems and geospatial data and related hardware, software and services. You will oversee recruitment, selection, motivation, training and employee performance evaluation for the Geomatic Services team. In consultation with the IT management team, you will make recommendations on strategic direction of the IT Division and ensure that current and proposed solutions operate within budgetary and corporate goals. The Manager, Geomatic Services promotes a service ethic within the department and ensures that corporate solutions are implemented through proactive communication, presentations, reports, project management and facilitation.QualificationsYour education will include a university degree in Geographic Information systems/Geomatics or an equivalent combination of training and experience, supplemented by courses of work and a minimum of five years related work experience with progressively more responsibility in geographic information systems and at least two years supervisory experience. With excellent leadership skills, you can provide advice, direction and leadership to a diverse work group. You have considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of geomatics, base mapping, engineering service mapping, GIS applications and data management and knowledge of the principles of civil engineering and land surveying.Required Certifications/LicensesCandidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver?s License.
