Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. At heights. Tasks: Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Test equipment to locate transmission faults. Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment. Instruct apprentices. Complete and maintain test and service reports. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Determine work assignments. Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Splice, join and connect wires. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Working at heights training. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Equipment and machinery experience: Coaxial line. Fibre optics. Single line. Copper. Aerial and underground cable lines. Splitters.
