School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) is now accepting external applications for:<p>School Bus Driver <p>Permanent, part-time (20 hr/wk) <p>Effective Immediately <p>The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe operation of school buses used to transport students on prescribed routes within the School District. The School Bus Driver may also participate in the busing of students on curricular and extracurricular field trips both inside and outside the district. Independent judgment and initiative is exercised in the safe and timely operation of the school bus. Effective interpersonal relationships and skilled communication are key components to being successful in this role. Work is performed under the general direction of the Operations Supervisor. <p>Examples of Work Safely operates the school bus on established routes throughout the school district and on trips.<p> In accordance with appropriate motor vehicle regulations, completes pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on the school bus and reports problems to supervisor and/or bus mechanic.<p> Performs daily, weekly and annual cleaning of the school bus, as per the requirements in the National Safety Code and School District practices.<p> Promotes a positive environment while operating the school bus by supporting appropriate student behavior in accordance with District policy and regulations.<p> Consistently demonstrates a firm, fair, courteous and patient approach when communicating with students, staff, parents and other members of the public.<p> Educates students on school bus safety.<p> Reports, road hazards and accidents.<p> Attends meetings and workshops as required. <p> Complete and maintain all documentation in accordance with all applicable regulations, policies and practices. <p> Performs other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act, ICBC regulations, National Safety Code and other regulations applicable to the operation of a school bus.<p> Demonstrated ability to operate a school bus in a safe and responsible manner.<p> Knowledge of emergency procedures and safety equipment.Required Training, Experience and Certification High School Diploma or equivalent.<p> Minimum 5 years driving experience and an acceptable driving abstract.<p> Valid Class 2 Drivers license for the Province of British Columbia.<p> Pass annual driver medical in accordance with School District practice.<p> First Aid would be an asset.Rate of Pay <p>$28.39/hr, as per the Collective Agreement 440<p>For further information, please contact Jim Bryce, Operations Supervisor, 250-427-2268.<p>Electronic applications are required from all applicants.
