Do you have a desire to work alongside a dynamic, professional and growing team? CCATCM and our associated companies are looking for an Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our creative, supportive, and inspired team.
The Accountant/Bookkeeper will provide support to the Management team by managing full-cycle accounting tasks while maintaining the timeliness of the company?s financial reporting. Tasks related to the preparation of the financial statements are a large part of the day-to-day work and the ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and exhibit attention to detail.
_This is a full-time opportunity located in Bedford, Halifax._
*Accountabilities*
Supporting the month-end, and year-end financial close processes to ensure financial results are complete and accurate including processing of affiliate transactions.
Preparation of monthly financial statements aligning to targeted deadlines.
Account reconciliations including bank, accrued liabilities, clearing accounts, prepaids, and deferred revenue.
Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with accounting efficiency, accuracy, and best practices.
Liaising with auditors, vendors, and other third parties.
Assisting the Company?s external auditors during the annual audit.
General ledger analysis and reconciliation.
Make bank deposits.
Payroll functions including:
* Verify, maintain and organize payroll information and documentation (i.e., new hires, deductions, salary changes, leave processing, contributions and terminations)
* Accurately enter data into payroll system (Ceridian)
* Keep updated employee electronic payroll files after employee onboarding
* Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve related issues, as necessary
* Report and monitor annual vacation carryover balances and calculations of entitlement
* Other payroll-related duties, as assigned by management
Full accounts payable cycle including:
* Distributes invoices to the appropriate department for approval
* Ensures all payments are properly authorized and coded.
* Processes supplier invoices for payment. Accounts payable entries
* Reconciling vendor statements
* Processing cheque runs
Manage accounts receivable function including:
* Student account set up
* Invoice entry including tuition and other related student fees
* Processing payment installment plans, and ensuring payment of installments are kept up to date
* Collection of payments including emailing reminders and phone calls to students
* Posting of all student payments
* Other accounts receivable entries including invoice and payment entries from offsite locations as well as account reconciliations
