Overview:
We are in search of a Mechanical Engineer who is both highly organized and effective, to be instrumental in the support of mechanical project design implementation. The role demands a solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles as applied to industrial systems, particularly within the Food and Beverage sector.
* *Mechanical System Design*: Engineer a variety of mechanical systems and endorse the selection of equipment for different food or beverage production facilities, including HVAC for offices and production spaces, ductwork, and underground plumbing systems like stormwater, sanitary, and grease interceptors.
* *Equipment Selection*: Choose equipment for process hot water and steam boilers, including the design of steam/condensate piping and components.
* *Quality Assurance*: Perform thorough inspections and decide on the approval or rejection of finished designs.
* *Operational Efficiency*: Enhance operational procedures, decrease processing times, and refine processes to ensure consistent engineering service quality.
* *Design Verification*: Confirm and authenticate engineering designs through testing and statistical data analysis.
* *Project Support*: Aid in formulating project strategies, estimating costs, and orchestrating the collaboration of engineers, technicians, designers, and drafters for team synergy.
* *Documentation*: Generate and preserve detailed project records.
* *Product Evaluation*: Assess the performance and cost-effectiveness of mechanical products being considered for acquisition.
* *Budget Management*: Establish financial requirements for mechanical systems, propose budget plans, and oversee budget adherence throughout the project?s duration.
* *Technical Review*: Produce and scrutinize technical documents, including project outlines, testing procedures, and design blueprints.
* *Interdisciplinary Collaboration*: Collaborate intimately with architectural, electrical, civil, and structural teams to ensure projects meet client expectations.
* *Mentorship*: Offer technical mentorship and training to junior engineers and collaborate with technologists to craft client-approved plans.
* *Presentation Skills*: Create and present informative sessions to peers and clients.
* *Equipment Evaluation*: Appraise process equipment for client usage and provide recommendations.
* *Project Completion*: Ensure all project aspects are finalized to the highest standard.
Requirements
Skills and Qualficiations
* Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
* Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code for Plumbing and HVAC, Ontario Fire Code, CFIA, ASHRAE STD as applied to HVAC and Refrigeration, NFPA, OSHA, TSSA, CSA Standard for fuel related appliances and equipment.
* Thorough understanding of Ammonia and Halocarbon refrigeration systems.
* Ability to identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship within a project.
* Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships.
* Proven track record in managing large project budgets.
* Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
* Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines.
Requirements:
* University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Three to five (3-5) years related work experience in the food or pharmaceutical industries.
* Experience in a consulting environment would be considered an asset.
