Building Official Level 3Competition #2024-28 A well-kept secret hidden within the Upper Fraser Valley of British Columbia?s southwest coastal region. The District of Kent is bounded on the north by Harrison Lake, on the west by Harrison River, on the south by the Fraser River and on the east by Hope and the Fraser Canyon. The District of Kent is offering an exciting opportunity in our Development Services Department for a Building Official Level 3. The incumbent in this position will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the Building Section of the Development Services Department through reliable performance of plan checking and building inspection for all building types, and observing District policies and security/safety practices. Under the general direction of the Director of Development Services the Building Official 3 will be primarily responsible for:Processing and issuance of building permits and inspections in accordance with the BC Building Code for buildings including Group A, B, C, D, E, F1, F2, and F3. Review of proposed building designs, materials, and devices for compliance with related bylaws, regulations, and codes. Processing, accepting, or rejecting proposed building construction plans. Providing information services to the public on technical, regulatory, and code requirements; and Preparing related correspondence and reports. Requirements include:Grade 12 Diploma or proven equivalent; Preferred minimum five (5) years related progressive experience in a municipal environment. Course completion in Building Technology from a recognized technical institute or experience at the journeyperson level in one of the building trades would be an asset. Level 3 qualified with the Provincial Regulations and Building Officials? Association of BC; Must have Level 1 Certification with the Plumbing Officials? Association of BC; and Valid Class 5 BC Driver?s Licence with recent abstract. Pay and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458.
