<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p><strong>Job description & Location</strong></p><p>Toronto-based Financial Controller for Canadian-Based, multi-location, B&M service Company with locations in both NYC and Toronto.</p><p><strong>Role Overview</strong></p><p>Othership is seeking an intensely detailed, highly accountable, and experienced Financial Controller to work closely with the CEO to oversee all accounting and finance activities of the Company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a full-cycle bookkeeping process across several entities, budgeting, financial planning and, analysis, internal and stakeholder reporting, and compliance for our operations in Canada and the US. You are analytical, bring a "gold-standard" work ethic, and have a service-mindset when it comes to supporting not just head-office (Mothership) functions but also when working with the operating teams at the Ship (location) level. Experience working with high-growth, multi-unit brands is not a requirement but will be viewed favourably.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><strong>OVERSIGHT // GOVERNANCE</strong></p><ul><li>Support Management with regular and ad-hoc financial analysis to support strategic decision-making</li><li>Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls</li><li>Track, report and analyze all budget-to-actual variances</li><li>Take a continuous improvement approach to managing all accounting policies and procedures to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency</li><li>Manage cash flow and make recommendations on capital allocation strategies</li><li>Analyze potential internal and external risks, develop procedures and controls for mitigating risk</li></ul><p><strong>SYSTEMS + OPERATIONS</strong></p><ul><li>Manage accounting processes and ensure accuracy and timely deliver of financial statements</li><li>Develop and maintain an annual budgeting process and drive cross-functional accountability</li><li>Manage all long-term forecasting processes</li><li>Manage the financial reporting process and present financial information to senior management</li><li>Recommend data-supported changes to drive financial and operational efficiencies across the organisation</li><li>Oversee and optimize all data and record-keeping systems (including but not limited to accounting software, POS systems and ERPs)</li></ul><p><strong>COMPLIANCE + TAX</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with Canadian and US accounting standards and regulations</li><li>Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and government organizations</li><li>Review and maintain all agreements (from lease and bank agreements to vendors and clients)</li></ul><p><strong>LEADERSHIP + CORE VALUES</strong></p><ul><li>Lead with company core values and mentor a team of accounting professionals</li><li>Engage in mindful conversations with all team members at all times</li><li>Always working to uncover opportunities for growth, improvement and efficiency</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>CPA designation required</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field</li><li>Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management or controller role</li><li>Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US accounting principles and regulations (must have worked in the US or with US companies at some point)</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills</li><li>Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel</li><li>Excellent communication and leadership abilities</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy</li></ul><p><strong>Why you may like us</strong></p><ol><li>You'll be getting in on the ground floor with an exciting, fast-growth company where career growth and opportunities abound</li><li>Othership is solving a meaningful problem in society: loneliness, lack of connection and destructive stress. <strong>You care about hel
