Tasks: Conduct advanced research in the areas of tree improvement, nursery seedling production, forest soils, forest ecology, forest mensuration, forest operations and other areas. Ensure adherence to government regulations and company objectives. Establish short- and long-term plans for management of forest lands and forest resources. Monitor contract compliance and results of forestry activities. Negotiate terms and conditions of agreements and contracts for forest harvesting, forest management and leasing of forest lands. Plan and conduct public relations programs, and education and extension programs related to forestry. Plan and direct road building, wildlife management, environmental protection and insect and vegetation control programs. Plan and direct woodlands harvesting, reforestation, silviculture and fire prevention and fire suppression programs. Provide advice and recommendations, as a consultant on forestry issues, to private woodlot owners, municipal, provincial or federal governments or to companies. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Bear awareness Certification. S-100 basic fire suppression and safety training. Emergency Care and First Aid Certificate. Forest Engineer with registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.). Registered Professional Forester (RPF). Scaling Licence. Computer and technology knowledge: Data manipulation and analysis. Geographic Information System (GIS). Realize modelling and simulation exercises on computerized units. Scientific programming. Area of specialization: Forest pathology and entomology. Forest fire management. Forest physiology. Forest economics. Forest biology and ecology. Recreation and landscape management. Silviculture. Timber harvesting or production.
