Position Overview
Reporting to the Business Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible for the processing of all payroll transactions which include ensuring that employees are paid accurately, by the pre-determined deadlines, and with all appropriate deductions withheld and remitted as per government regulations.
Specific Accountabilities
* To ensure accurate and timely processing of all bi-weekly payroll, bonus payments, salary increases & annual vacation payouts.
* Assist in controlling transactions posted to the general ledger to ensure accuracy.
* Create or use reports to assist in the smooth processing of payroll functions.
* Remit employee's deductions and employer?s contributions to the various governmental agencies by the appropriate due dates.
* Maintains an accurate payroll system in compliance with company and government requirements.
* Perform required payroll reconciliation on a timely basis as part of the company?s internal control procedures.
* Prepare all data in respect with T4 and RL1 (annual earnings slips).
* Maintain employee records with respect to rate of pay, benefits and pensionable earnings.
* Maintain, create and prepare formulas as they relate to the automated payroll systems.
* Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
* Maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to staff and employee salary administration.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a team player who possesses
* A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Accounting; or diploma with relevant level of experience.
* Previous payroll experience
* A strong business orientation and customer focus with an ability to communicate to all levels of the business.
* Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
* Have ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
* Ability to work alone with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
* Financial systems experience with Mincom Ellipse and Empath would be an asset.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills
