Education: College/CEGEP. Tasks: Interview inmates to assess adjustment problems. Interview offenders to prepare pre-sentence reports. Prepare reports or case histories. Supervise support staff. Administrative and office activities. Assess offenders' prospects for successful reintegration into the community. Develop specialized rehabilitation programs. Perform administrative tasks. Plan rehabilitation programs with offenders, establishing rules of conduct, goals and objectives. Prepare classification reports recommending type of incarceration and types of interventions for rehabilitation. Conduct social research. Implement life skills workshops. Plan rehabilitation programs with offenders. Refer offenders to community and social services programs. Liaise with the inmates' families and contacts in the community. Supervise terms of probation orders. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Interview probationer and parolees regularly to evaluate their progress. Conduct follow-up assessments. Recommend actions when probation or parole is violated. Sign language. Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community. Housekeeping activities. Food preparation. Provide suicide and crisis intervention. Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses. Assist offenders in pre-release and release planning. Implement substance abuse treatment programs. Implement behaviour management programs. Conduct individual and group counselling sessions. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Develop service intervention logic models and outcome measures. Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research. Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs. Screen, recruit and train volunteers and support staff. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Accompany clients to appointments and social outings. Manage events. Manage knowledge. Offer mentoring. Supervise office and volunteer staff.
