Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Installation. Urban area. On-site customer service. Testing. Various locations. Repair. Service. Tasks: Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment. Repair cable signals. Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment. Inspect operation of telecommunications equipment. Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults. Analyze test results and adjust, change or repair switching system, network, associated equipment and software. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Communication Electrician Trade Certification. Computer and technology knowledge: Telecommunication system. Equipment and machinery experience: Cable outlets. Area of specialization: Telephone installation and repair. Switch network installation and repair. Telecommunications equipment. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Vehicle supplied by employer. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment.
