Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Outdoors. Wet/damp. Work setting: Rural area. Urban area. Commercial. Industrial. Institutional. Residential. Roads and bridges. Sidewalks and curbs. Tasks: Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade. Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement. Operate power vibrators to compact concrete. Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification. Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools. Instruct apprentices. Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures. Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces. Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces. Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of materials: Hardners and epoxies. Light weight concrete. Reinforcing membrane and protective covering. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Ear plugs. Gloves. Personal suitability: Client focus. Flexibility. Team player.
