Education: Earned doctorate degree. Work setting: Research institute, laboratory or centre. Tasks: Determine product specifications. Establish new quality control programs and strategies . Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment . Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies. Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials. Design and test chemical processing and associated plants and equipment. Establish and conduct quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies. Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment and determine production specifications. Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers. Conduct clinical or laboratory studies to test, evaluate and screen drugs, pharmaceuticals and nanoparticles used in biomedical applications. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Computer and technology knowledge: MS Excel. MS Office. MS Outlook. MS PowerPoint. MS Word. Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB). Technical experience: Chemical analysis. Biochemical and molecular techniques.
