Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Corrections. Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance). Crime prevention. Work setting: Urban area. Social service or charity agency. Cultural organization. Tasks: Interview inmates to assess adjustment problems. Interview offenders to prepare pre-sentence reports. Prepare reports or case histories. Administrative and office activities. Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services. Assess offenders' prospects for successful reintegration into the community. Perform administrative tasks. Plan rehabilitation programs with offenders, establishing rules of conduct, goals and objectives. Prepare classification reports recommending type of incarceration and types of interventions for rehabilitation. Conduct social research. Plan rehabilitation programs with offenders. Refer offenders to community and social services programs. Liaise with the inmates' families and contacts in the community. Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs. Conduct follow-up assessments. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Develop service intervention logic models and outcome measures.
