Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Fabrication. Engineering firm. Budgetary responsibility: 0 - $100,000. Tasks: Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly. Inspect finished products for proper functioning. Check mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for alignment and proper functioning. Read and interpret blueprints. Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts. Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations. Maintain test result reports. Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects. Complete detailed inspection documentation. Communicate technical problems, processes and solutions. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Read blueprints, written specifications and production drawings. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. Computer-aided design (CAD). Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Measuring tools: Gauges. Micrometers. Callipers. Verniers.
