Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Operate plasma cutters. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Sheet Metal Worker Trade Certification. Sheet Metal Worker Red Seal Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Specialization or experience: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Own vehicle. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
