*POSITION OVERVIEW:*
The General Manager for Invermere oversees the overall management and operations of both Copper Point Resort and Invermere Inn & Suites, providing a resort experience for our guests. Copper Point Resort is a four-star full-service resort hotel with 181 rooms, dining room, banquet facility, indoor and outdoor pools, spa, and fitness facility. Invermere Inn & Suites is a 47-room property in the heart of Invermere, with a liquor store operation. Between the two properties, the General Manager oversees 65-80 employees, depending on the season.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Managing and leading the team at these properties, the General Manager is empowered to embrace the following duties, as well as other duties communicated by the Director of Operations and/or President of INNHotels:
*Day-to-day operations:*
· Utilize business acumen to develop and implement strategic plans and operational goals.
· Lead and guide the hotel?s leadership team to drive results.
· Deliver an exceptional resort experience to our guests.
· Maximizing room yield and hotels / resort revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.
· Trouble-shoot any issues arising in hotel or other onsite service operations.
· Ensure full compliance to hotel operating controls, SOP?s, policies, procedures, and service standards.
· Safeguard security and compliance, conducting inspections where necessary.
· Responsible for safeguarding the quality of operations both (internal & external audits).
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with Employment Standards Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements.
· Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotel/resort and management.
· Physically tour and review all areas of the property on a daily basis.
*Handling financial responsibilities:*
· Managing budgets and controlling expenditure.
· Tracking hotel revenues, setting sales targets, and optimizing profits.
· Analyzing sales figures, reports and the different market segments and channels to define the best-suited pricing and distribution strategies.
· Maintaining statistical and financial records.
· Developing improvement actions, carry out costs savings.
*Leading a successful team: *
· Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among departments.
· Provide coaching, training, and guidance to department managers.
· Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process for department manager roles.
· Regular briefings and meetings with all department managers.
· Monitoring and motivating staff with constructive communication in a positive work environment and a shared vision of targets and career progression.
· Investing effort in employee engagement and retention in collaboration with HR.
· Be a role model to all staff, one that they want to emulate.
*Providing great guest experiences: *
· Meeting and greeting guests with a warm welcome.
· Being attentive to guests? needs and wishes, taking opportunities to optimize the guest experience.
· Addressing complaints with a personal touch to restore customer satisfaction.
· Keeping a watchful eye on both competitors and technological trends and innovations in hospitality with a view to leveraging any insights to build customer relations.
