Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Insulator. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Hot. Work setting: Construction. Maintenance. Repair. Commercial. Installation. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select type of insulation required. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Install vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials. Brush waterproofing cement or other material over insulating materials. Fabricate and apply removable insulation pads and covers. Estimate costs and materials. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Remove asbestos, ceramic fibres, lead and mould and urea-formaldehyde insulation materials from buildings. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Insulator Trade Certification. Insulator Red Seal Certificate. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Driver's License. CADD Course. Propane in Construction Record of Training. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Insulator (heat and frost) Trade Certification. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Area of specialization: Asbestos abatement and removal. Refractory insulation. Custom fabrication and layout. Spraying and blowing insulation. Fire stopping and fireproofing. Industrial noise control. Acoustical insulation. Cladding.
