Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time (must be available for Overtime, Weekends, Day, Night, Evening) Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possibleEducation: Completed at least some secondary schoolExperience: 1 year or more flat deck experience will be an asset (Not Mandatory).Credentials: (Certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.), (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) EndorsementLanguages: Functional English is requiredType of Travel: Long-haul, Travel for extended periods.Type of Equipment: Super B Flat, Triaxle Flat, and Reg FlatWeight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)Specific Skills: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoyOperate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materialsLoading and unloading of goodsTarping and ensuring safety and security of cargoPlan travel schedules and routesReceive and relay information to a central dispatcherOversee condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipmentMonitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitnessSkills and AbilitiesSecurity and Safety: Driving Record Check (abstract)Own Tools/Equipment: Hard Hat, Steel-toed safety boots, ToolsDocumentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reportsEssential Skills: Working in a group, Decision making, Finding information, Continuous learning, Oral communication, Writing, Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding Other Requirements: Routes will include all of Canada and the Mid-West USA. Nights, weekends, and holidays will be required to make timely deliveries to our customers. An excellent driving record is a must.
