Job details
City Centre Property Management is a distinguished and reputable Halifax-based property management company, currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This position plays a key role in managing day-to-day accounting activities, budgeting, and reporting processes. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with our Property Managers on a day-to-day basis, the ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, property management software, and accounting functions.
*Duties & Responsibilities:*
* Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
* Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
* Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to track financial performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
* Manage banking relationships, cash flow projections, and treasury functions to mitigate financial risks.
* Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including receipts, disbursements, billing, and accounting.
* Coordinating annual audits to ensure compliance with financial practices and regulations.
* Manage cash flow, investments, borrowing, and loan repayments.
* Manage mortgage renewals, payments, and associated functions.
* General ledger maintenance.
* Other duties as required.
*Required Skills:*
* Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with all employees across all departments.
* Attention to detail.
* Advanced Excel knowledge. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Prior experience or knowledge of real estate or property management is considered an asset.
* Prior experience or knowledge of Spectra and/or Yardi Property Management Software is considered an asset.
* Ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple projects within strict deadlines.
