*GENERAL MANAGER*
Daki Menan Lands and Resources Corporation (DMLRC) is looking for a General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company.
DMLRC is a not-for-profit company affiliated with the Temagami First Nation (TFN).
The Objects of the Corporation are focused on economic development in the lands and resources sector for the Temagami First Nation and capacity building within the youth of the community. The company is also responsible for the implementation of the TFN Forestry Strategy and the management and maintenance of its office and yard facility in the Town of Temagami.
The position is based at the DMLRC Office in Temagami with field operations in the Temagami and Temiskaming Districts. Periodic travel to Temagami First Nation headquarters (located on Bear Island) via boat or ice road is required.
Reporting to a Board of Directors, the duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
* Contributing to and implementing the development of a Strategic Plan consistent with the Objects of the Corporation.
* Providing training and/or coordinating the training of workers as needed. *Preparation and implementation of an annual budget.*
* Preparation of funding applications and submission of required reporting documentation.
* Planning of the crew schedule and supervision of 6-8 seasonal workers carrying out silvicultural operations (tree planting, thinning, data collection, etc.), firewood and lumber production.
* Providing guidance to and supervision of Administrative Assistant.
* Ensuring that appropriate maintenance and repairs are carried out on equipment and vehicles. *Preparing responses to Request for Bids for forestry projects, firewood procurements and other* *opportunities as they arise*.
* Ensuring appropriate maintenance and upkeep of the office and property. *Identifying opportunities for DMLRC.*
*Qualifications:*
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
? A post-secondary education in business, community economic development and/or natural resources and 10 years of related experience.
? Experience in the management of a small business. ? Strong communication skills.
? Valid Class ?G? driver?s license.
? Ability to work independently and as part of team.
? Proficient in the use of computers and computer software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). ? Supervisory experience with youth and entry level workers.
? Cultural awareness and/or working experience with First Nations projects.
? Small engine mechanical skills are considered an asset (chainsaws, brush saws, etc.). ? Experience in the forestry sector is an asset.
? Competency in the use of GPS software (Avenza) is an asset.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will be comparable to the Pay Grid for the Temagami First Nation.
