*Job Details*
The Utilities & Powerhouse Manager is the most senior responsible person for the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems equipment and facilities in order to provide highly reliable utility support to all HCC industrial processes and facility requirements. Equipment includes HVAC, boilers, chillers, steam turbines and engines, gas compression systems, air compressors and purified water systems, and associated mechanical and electrical systems in power generation. This position has direct supervisory and managerial responsibility of all onsite Operating Engineers (2nd Class, 3rd Class, 4th Class and Co-op positions).
*PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES *
* Responsible for the safe efficient operation and maintenance of a 1st class high pressure steam plant, compressor systems, water treatment, air scrubbers and related equipment.
* Responsible for scheduling and directing 2nd class stationary engineers and external contractors in corrective and preventative tasks to properly maintain utility operations within the facility.
* The incumbent is the Company representative in ensuring compliance with the regulations and inspections required under the Ontario TSSA Regulations.
* Recognize the need for outside resources (consultants, technical services and contractors); employ, develop and manage them as required by project workload.
* Lead the training and development program for all Powerhouse Operating Engineers to ensure proper training is assigned, provided and verified.
* Responsible for ensuring daily, weekly and monthly plant inspection of the boiler systems and that all systems are operating in a safe and expected manner.
* Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance programs
* Strong engagement in the Health and Safety culture within the facility.
* Provide leadership and direction to the operating engineer team and foster a continuous improvement philosophy.
* Champion and manage the facility energy management and reduction program.
* Assist in the preparation and management of the annual capital and maintenance budget for all Powerhouse operations.
* Develop and execute capital projects within the Powerhouse facility.
* Lead & oversee the development, implementation, and on-going maintenance of the SQF system as outlined in HR-PL-01-002 Management Responsibility.
*Basic Requirements: *
* A valid Ontario ? 1st Class Operating Engineer's License
* Minimum 2 years? work experience as a 1st Class Operating/Stationary Engineer and/or 5 years? experience as a 2nd Class Operating/Stationary Engineer.

*Desired Skills:*
* 3-5 years? experience managing and executing capital projects within a large facility.
* 3-5 years? direct supervisory experience
* Strong background in WasteWater Treatment Facilities
* Knowledge of Municipal Water Treatment Facilities
* Knowledge of safe work practices associated with confined spaces, working with heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools and chemicals systems (Ammonia and Chlorine)
* Previous experience in the food processing industry is an asset.
* Previous experience working with trade union employees is an asset.
* Proficiency with and ability to learn software systems including MS Office, SAP
* Previous experience in the food processing industry is an asset.
* Previous experience working within a CFIA inspected facility an asset.
* Knowledge of HACCP and Provincial Health and Safety Regulations would be an asset.

Pay: $140,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
