Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Tasks: Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units. Estimate materials, tools and equipment required for projects . Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing. Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations. Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required. Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools. Instruct apprentices. Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures. Security and safety: Basic security clearance. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots.
