Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Home care and visiting care agency. Private residence. School or educational institution/establishment. Tasks: Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition. Address and document symptoms and changes in patients' conditions. Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions. Assist in surgery and other medical procedures. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families. Conduct disease screening. Deliver health education programs. Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician. Manage home care cases. Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment. Participate in community needs assessment and program development. Provide consultative services regarding issues relevant to nursing profession and nursing practice. Provide nursing care. Provide supportive counselling and life skills programming. Perform administrative tasks. Supervision: No supervision responsibility. Staff in various areas of responsibility. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Intravenous (IV) therapy Certification. Tracheostomy care training. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse by the province/territory of work. First Aid Certificate. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities.
