Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Animal hospital. Tasks: Document animal behaviour. Monitor animal behaviour. Prepare food and feed animals. Clean and disinfect cages, pens, aquariums, kennels, runs, stall and enclosures. Keep records of animals treated. Assist with inoculation and treatment of animals. Assist animal breeders to handle and nurture animals. Provide flea bath treatments to animals. Clip animal nails. Monitor and document animal behaviour. Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery. Equipment and machinery experience: Autoclave equipment. Area of work experience: Medical instruments and devices. Animal specialization: Domestic animals/pets (cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, etc.). Hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc.. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Fast-paced environment. Standing for extended periods. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills.
