Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Repair. Testing. Service. Tasks: Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment. Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components. Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts. Perform on-site servicing and repair. Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance. Area of specialization: Electric motors. Industrial motors. Rotors. Bearings. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Manual dexterity. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?. Do you have previous experience in this field of employment?.
