Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects. Establish NDI techniques and calibration standards. Calibrate, test and interpret ultrasonic equipment. Set up, calibrate, operate and interpret magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic equipment. Prepare, conduct and interpret liquid penetrant inspection. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. Instruct and supervise trainees. Maintain test result reports. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : CWB Visual Inspector Certification Level 1. Nondestructive Testing Certificate. Testing equipment and methods: Liquid penetrant. Magnetic particle. Visual inspection. Nondestructive testing. Area of work experience: Construction. Hydro and utilities. Oil or gas pipelines. Transportation - road/rail/marine. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Cellular phone. Personal suitability: Accurate.
