The incumbent plays a crucial role in advancing MHPSS services in alignment with the values and worldviews of the communities we serve. They ensure our service keeps its engagement to work alongside Indigenous communities to enhance access to quality MHPSS services that honor cultural traditions, promote community well-being, and ensure a self-determined and holistic approach to mental health. In this role, you will: Responsibility 1: Deployment activities Assessment & Advocacy in Indigenous context In collaboration with Indigenous People (IP) Delegates and community, conduct Psychosocial (PSS) Assessment to develop understanding of impacts on affected communities, their resources to respond to emerging needs, and formulate recommendations to build on existing capacity In collaboration with IP Delegate complete PSS Field Reports to ensure ongoing assessment and monitoring and verify them with community counterparts Consult with MHPSS Provincial Disaster Coordination Team to ensure inclusion of cultural safety in protection protocols, service plan and conduction of field activities and incident reporting In collaboration with IP Delegate, advocate with Ops to ensure cultural safety, psychosocial and protection considerations and recommendations are integrated into service design and delivery Complete end-of-mission report and debriefing upon demobilization Coordination with Community Partners In collaboration with community leadership, identify and map relevant community partner organizations, including Indigenous agencies with delegated authority, based on PSS Assessment gaps analysis and the community's network based on previous relationships Map out relevant existing relationships between CRC, the community and Indigenous partners involved in the operation In collaboration with IP Delegate and Geo IP liaison, establish mechanisms to collaborate with community partners and leadership to ensure holistic support for impacted individuals that builds on individual and community capacity and resiliency and supports its advancement. Cultural Expertise, Capacity Building & Technical Guidance At the invitation of community and in collaboration with IP Delegate, provide relevant culturally appropriate and trauma-informed supports through traditional Indigenous individual and group healing activities Provide guidance to Ops to ensure safe conditions for community's culturally significant gatherings/activities to be held in. Ensure that MHPSS activities demonstrate and are consistent with CRC's commitment to Reconciliation and Indigenous Framework principles Provide technical guidance to operational or programmatic personnel on complex MHPSS considerations, including crisis intervention and management, and protection protocols and response as member of the Protection Team Lead capacity-building activities as relevant to the operation or program based on Advisor's specialized, professional, and cult
