Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Less than 50 beds. Less than 50 rooms. Relocation costs covered by employer. Hotel, motel, resort. Tasks: Establish and implement operational procedures for housekeeping department. Select and purchase equipment and supplies. Plan and co-ordinate activities of housekeeping supervisors and crews. Co-ordinate inspection of assigned areas. Supervise staff. Ensure that safety standards and departmental policies are met. Supervise maintenance and repair services. Co-ordinate maintenance and repair services. Conduct performance evaluations and appraisals. Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and uniforms. Co-ordinate in-house laundry services. Schedule and assign duties of housekeeping staff. Ensure that local health and sanitation regulations are carried out. Respond to complaints of guests. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Wash windows, walls and ceilings. Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture. Stock linen closet. Pick up debris and empty trash containers. Handle and report lost and found items. Dust furniture. Distribute clean towels and toiletries. Attend to guests' requests for extra supplies or other items. Make beds and change sheets. Clean and disinfect elevators. Clean changing rooms and showers. Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances. Supervision: 3-4 people.
