This position reports to the Team Lead, Individual Education Plans.This position provide work with First Nation school staff to build their capacity write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The Coach, Individual Education Plans collaborates with the Special Education team to support the development of training and resources to build the capacity of First Nation school staff to write and implement IEPs.<p>Since 1992, FNESC, led by a strong and diverse board of over 125 First Nations community representatives, has worked in partnership with the First Nations School Association (FNSA), and the Indigenous Adult Higher Learning Association (IAHLA). Communications, research, partnership-building, resource development and advocacy are all part of the work we do to advance issues in First Nations education.What We Offer: The salary for this position is $82,482.00 per year;<p> 8-weeks of paid vacation per year, based on the school year. (5 weeks in July and August, 1 week at Spring Break, and 2 weeks at Christmas being subject to annual board approval);<p> Well above-average benefits plan that is 100% paid for by FNESC, that includes: extended healthcare, dental care, and vision care;<p> Well above-average employer matched pension plan;<p> Generous annual professional development subsidy;<p> Generous wellness subsidy;<p> Regular employee appreciation events;<p> Respectful work environment with a stellar work-life balance;<p> Opportunity to see beautiful British Columbia close up;<p> Being part of a multi-disciplinary team made up of educational professionals, speech language pathologist, occupational therapists, assessment coaches, etc. Duties and Responsibilities: <p> Coaching First Nation school staff in the development and implementation of IEPs within the collaborative team process;<p> Building school capacity in writing IEPs with both SMART or Competency-Based IEP goals;<p> Supporting First Nation school staff with planning of interventions for effective instruction to meet the needs of students with exceptionalities;<p> Collaborating with other SEP staff to create example goals for students with exceptionalities;<p> Collaborating with other SEP staff to maintain resources and supports for IEP development;<p> Providing data, and statistical reports as required to meet program accountability requirements and identifying and implementing strategies to increase program success;<p> Providing professional development through presentations and workshops in schools trainings and conferences, as assigned. What Were Looking For: <p> Current Teaching Certificate, including Special Education certification and training;<p> Two or more years of experience, including working in the field of Special Education and/or at a variety of grade levels;<p> Experience working with First Nations in the field of education an asset;<p> Comprehensive understanding of First Nations education issues and First Nations issues in British Columbia;<p> Flexibility to travel to First Nations Schools in British Columbia;<p> Possession of a valid Class 5 drivers license.<p>Hours This is a salaried full-time position. Frequent travel is required throughout the province of BC.<p>Location:<p>Anywhere in British Columbia that might be suitable for FNESCs needs.FNESC requires that all FNESC staff have at least two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for two reasons: First, because FNESC takes its responsibility to create and maintain a healthy workplace very seriously.
