Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Dental practice. Tasks: Conduct initial dental assessments and consult with dentists on patient care. Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene. Clean and stimulate the gums to prevent gum disease. Apply fluoride treatment. Remove stains and deposits from teeth. Administer local anesthetics. Take, develop and mount X-rays. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Dental Hygienists Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial governing body. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Team player. Screening questions: Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?.
