Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Restaurant. Tasks: Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables. Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware. Package take-out food. Stock refrigerators and salad bars. Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment. Remove kitchen garbage and trash. Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Supervise kitchen staff and helpers. Organize buffets and banquets. Order supplies and equipment. Manage kitchen operations. Inspect kitchens and food service areas. Clean kitchen and work areas. Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment. Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
